Marcus A. Christian

 

Marcus A. Christian has been the Executive Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida since May of 2010.  Prior to that, Marcus served as a deputy chief in the Major Crimes Section and as an Assistant United States Attorney.  In his latest trial, Marcus led a trial team that obtained the conviction of a drug trafficker who hired a hit man to kill an FBI confidential informant.

 

Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mr. Christian was the Chief of Staff for U.S. Representative Peter Deutsch of Florida’s 20th Congressional District.  Marcus joined the congressman after working for TSIC, Inc., a statewide nonprofit organization that provides full-tuition, four-year college scholarships to thousands of Florida’s low-income students.  At TSIC, Marcus spent time as the president, the chief operating officer, and as legal counsel.

 

Earlier in his career, Mr. Christian was selected by the Attorney General’s Honors Program to work as an attorney in Appellate Section of the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington D.C.  He began his legal career as a judicial clerk for Judge Haldane Robert Mayer of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C.

 

Mr. Christian received his undergraduate degree from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.  He next earned an M.Sc. in education at Oxford University in Oxford, England, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.  Moreover, after studying at Oxford, Marcus attended Yale Law School, where he received a Juris Doctor degree.

 

Marcus is a native of Clearwater, Florida.
